about

A collection of folk or "people's" music from some non-existent place, Ethnogenesis Porridge is a slow-simmered pot of wild oats and other raw grains, and a digital-only, companion piece to Stringspace (which also contains recordings from 2009-2010). While that release focused on a single instrument family, Ethnogenesis Porridge utilizes over a dozen different traditional and homemade string, wind, percussion and electronic sound devices including banjo, mbira, trumpet and "cigarimba" (three rubber bands tuned and struck over an open cigar box). These are genuine forgeries born from deep love and respect for the non-Western musics from which they draw.
